Ian Higgins

Work and clients

Ian focuses predominantly on providing advice to businesses and their owners on a wide range of taxation issues. He has worked with businesses and individuals across many sectors but his special emphasis is on the media and marketing sectors. Much of Ian’s time is spent advising clients on business structures, corporate and property transactions, third party sales, corporate reorganisations, creative tax reliefs, research and development tax reliefs, share scheme advice and undertaking tax due diligence.

The route to Shipleys

Ian has more than 20 years’ experience of providing tax advice. Initially training in a local top 50 accountancy firm, he spent the majority of his career before Shipleys at Moore Kingston Smith in London within the corporate and business tax team. In January 2024 Ian was promoted to Commercial Tax Director.

Ian is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Interests outside work

In his spare time Ian enjoys travel, playing football and tennis.
