Work and clients: Cliff provides tax advice to a wide range of clients including individuals, families, estates and trusts, small businesses and larger companies. His expertise includes income tax, capital gains tax, corporation tax and inheritance tax. He specialises in dealing with families and their business and investment interests, looking at the whole picture to plan their taxes and their wealth management over the longer term.
The route to Shipleys: Cliff did his initial training with Safferys before specialising in taxation with Arthur Andersen. He then moved to Barnes Roffe where he became tax partner. After taking time out to study for an MSc in Computer Science, he lectured at the University of Hertfordshire. More recently, he became an Independent Financial Adviser and then joined Smith Pearman in 2008, advising clients on tax matters. He joined Shipleys in 2016 on the merger with Smith Pearman.
Memberships: Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Interests outside work: Playing croquet and badminton (the former improving, the latter getting worse), and attending early music concerts and the theatre.
