Work and clients: Mike is responsible for the day-to-day running of Shipleys’ two tax departments in London and Godalming. His key focus is on private clients including expatriates and non-UK domiciliaries, more complicated UK tax planning and HM Revenue & Customs tax investigations. As a former Tax Officer he is well aware of the procedure from the other side of the fence.
The route to Shipleys: Mike worked for HM Revenue & Customs before joining a predecessor firm of Shipleys in 1979. He was made a principal in 1998.
Memberships: Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

"Helping a client with a PAYE investigation which was estimated at a tax liability of £300,000 at the beginning, but in the end the client paid £7,500."
