Aim:
"to solve tricky tax problems"
Most entertaining deal or case:
“I was part of a team tendering for the audit and tax services of a public company with over 50 subsidiaries. We were pitching against 5 other firms including 2 of the Big 4 and we had little time to come with a winning idea. After a few late night discussions, a simple idea to restructure the group which would result in a much reduced tax charge annually won the assignment and there were a lot of celebrations in the office that day.”
Proudest professional moments:
Negotiating a settlement with the Revenue for a client who was Chairman of a listed company where due to a technicality, the Revenue could not charge more than a nominal £100 penalty.
What I like about my job:
"finding a solution when others have given up!"
Interests outside work:
When he is off duty, Jay loves travelling as well as watching wildlife and people.
